Annual General Meeting
The Club all be holding its AGM next Tuesday on December 8 at 7pm. Rod Rose has kindly offered his office at 1/51 Owen Street and we will also be having a dial-in option. Please use the button below if you’d like to use this option so we can arrange codes etc.
We encourage members to use the AGM to get more involved in the club. Ideas, fresh faces to join the committee, volunteers for Club activities, all welcome.
CLUB CHAMPIONS AND GROUP TRAINING
We have finalised the results and will be announcing our 2020 Senior and Junior Club Champions at a pre-Christmas BBQ after this month’s group training session at Iluka. With Matt Lewis and Brooklyn Henry taking the gongs in 2019, competition for this year’s awards was surprisingly strong given the shortened race season.
Club members are awarded points based on their relative performance to the winner of their age group in their best races of the season. This year we reduced the number of races to 3 due to COVID. Several members scored more than one full points race (100 points for an age group winner), but who will prevail? Join us on the 18th and find out.
It should be a great morning at Iluka, so make sure you register and get along for the training, BBQ, announcement, or all three.
- When: Sunday, DECEMBER 13. 8am start.
- Where: Iluka Beach in Booderee National Park.
- Cost: No cost to club members.
- Short and long course options available, or mix and match to suit your training requirements.
- BBQ breakfast to follow the training.
We also need at least FIVE volunteers to help with traffic control, time-keeping/transition management, and water safety. If you or a family member can help out, please let us know.
All participants, including marshals, MUST register by 4pm on Friday Dec 11 and have a current Park entry pass. There is currently no fee for this pass.
CALLALA, BIG HUSKY, AND INTERCLUB SERIES
Entries for Big Husky have been filling up fast with the Ultimate and Classic distances already sold out. If you are planning to race, we encourage you to register early. For those hoping to race the longer distances, (the Ultimate is the performance points scoring races for the Interclub series), you will need to join a waitlist for any spots that become available.
Entries for Callala on December 19 are still open and we need a strong showing from members to shore up our lead in the Interclub Series. All members who race at Callala will earn participation points for the Club, and if you make the top 10 in your age group in the Sprint race, you score performance points as well.
Other races in the Interclub Series are:
Jan 10 – Kurnell (Sprint for performance points).
Jan 30 – Batemans Bay (Sprint).
Feb 26-28: Big Husky (Ultimate).
April 18 – Wollongong (Sprint).
May 22 – Club Champs (Club Distance) Date TBC.
RACE RESULTS
Congratulations to Brooklyn Henry who won his shortened Super Sprint final in sweltering conditions in Orange last weekend. Brooklyn also competed in the Aquathon.
Congrats too to Jackie Lyons and Rob Duffy, who competed in the 23km Summit Shoalhaven trail run in Kangaroo Valley. Rob won his age group though Jackie took out bragging rights to the faster time.
Don’t forget to let us know if you have any races coming up.
