JB Tri rocks!

Just wow!

JB Tri was out in force at Tomakin this weekend with some spectacular performances. With 25 members racing across all distances, JB made its presence felt and it was great to see so much blue and yellow  on course.
Thanks to those members who have sent through photos. If anyone has more let us know!
Full results at the end of this post but few quick special mentions:

  • Matt Lewis, second in the standard and Jacob Lipari first in the aquabike. But how did you guys manage to get identical bike times!
  • Sprint world championship qualifying points for a host of members, most notably Elisha Bell and Mandy Meredith who won their age groups.
  • Jess Rosskelly, 3rd female in the standard and Jackie Lyons 9th. Congrats too to Rob Duffy and Tony Lim who won their age groups – the comeback duo of the season!

Well done everyone and welcome to Wendy Read who competed in her first tri under the JB banner.

February Brewery Run

Don’t forget our next Brewery Run is on THIS  Wednesday, February 5. Come along for a recovery run or test yourself in the lead up to Big Husky.
Usual format: a run of around 6km followed by social drinks and/or dinner at the Brewery. All welcome including non-runners, especially if they snaffle us a table!

  • WHAT: Social run of approx 6km with options to extend or shorten followed by drinks and/or dinner.
  • WHEN: Wednesday, February 5 at 6pm. Please arrive 10 mins early so we can start on time.
  • WHERE: Meet outside Jervis Bay Brewery in the Woollamia Industrial Estate.

Big Husky Bike Aid Station

Thanks to those who have volunteered to help out at the bike aid station on the Sunday of Big Husky (Feb 23). We’re still looking to build our team, so if you’re not racing on the Sunday, or have friends/family who’d like to be more involved while they cheer you on, come along for a fun time and the best seats on the course. The aid station is right in Husky just down the road from transition.

  • The job? Simple. We’re responsible for providing drink bottles to passing cyclists who need one. Jobs include filling bottles, restocking tables and collecting discarded bottles.
  • The station needs to be manned from 7am-1pm but let us know your availability and we can roster to suit everyone’s timing.
  • The aid station is our major commitment to Elite Energy in exchange for those generous race discounts we all enjoy, so please volunteer some time if possible.

February Group Training

A reminder too that the February group training session will be a triathlon format at Iluka on Feb 16. It’s a great chance to have a hit out or practice your transition and race skills before the big race the following weekend.
Short and long course options available. Or mix and match to suit. Juniors training to follow the seniors event.
We also still have some vacancies in our volunteer team so let us know if you can help with marshalling.

  • WHAT: Triathlon Group Training – short and longer options available.
  • WHEN: Wednesday, February 23 at 8am. Please arrive before 7:45 to sign on and set up so we can start at 8. Juniors training to follow seniors at approximately 9:15.
  • WHERE: The Iluka car park in Booderee National Park. Please note you will need a pass to enter Bodeeree. We recommend the annual or two-yearly passes which are great value.
  • COST: Free for members and juniors. Non-members  – a $10 fee to cover Triathlon Australia one-day licence.
